Day 1 New York-Shenandoah
After pickup guests from New York/New Jersey in the morning, the tour will depart for Virginia’s Shenandoah Caverns. The Shenandoah Caverns are a show cave in northern Virginia's Shenandoah Valley region that is popular with tourists for their ease-of-access. There is even an elevator that can take the disabled and elderly down into the caves.
Day 2 Great Smoky Mountains-Chattanooga
In the morning our tour continues to Tennessee with a trip through the Great Smoky Mountains. This 520,000-acre park on the eastern border of Tennessee is a United States National Park and UNESCO World Heritage. It is the most-visited national park in the United States, and is renowned for the beauty of its landscapes. After a stop in Gatlinburg, TN, we will continue on to Pigeon Forge, TN to see the Dixie Stampede Western show. In 1988, the first Dixie Stampede opened in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, just outside of Dollywood, Dolly Parton's theme park. The show is still going strong today, and has expanded to two other locations in the American South. And then, we will spend the night in Chattanooga, TN.
Day 3 Chattanooga
We will spend the day exploring Chattanooga, TN and the surrounding area. Our day includes heading to Lookout Mountain to take the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway and see the Ruby Falls. Lookout Mountain -This historic hilltop on the southern border of Tennessee has a colorful history as a place of importance during wartime. Most notably, it was the centerpiece of the Battle of Lookout Mountain during the American Civil War. Lookout Mountain Incline Railway -This tram has been running almost continually since 1895, and with the exception of an engine update in 1911, it hasn't changed that much. The ride stretches about one mile up the mountain and reaches a grade of 72.7%. The famous Ruby Falls, an underground waterfall, are a natural phenomenon, and are fed by rainwater and underground springs. The water from the falls flows out of the caverns and eventually joins up with the Tennessee River.
Day 4 Shenandoah Valley-Natural Bridge-New York
Natural Bridge Referenced in "Moby Dick" and called by Thomas Jefferson "the most sublime of nature's works," Virginia's Natural Bridge (located in an eponymous town) has been fascinating travelers for hundreds of years. The rock arch has a 90-foot span.
